Technology Enhanced Learning: Utilization of SymboLab Manipulative Instruction and Performance of Students in Quadratic Graphs

Twenty first century learners are digital citizen and technologically savvy. This demands the use of innovative teaching strategies that take leverages affordance tools. In this study, effects SymboLab manipulative instruction on students’ performance in quadratic graph has been investigated. Three research questions three hypotheses guided study. The population study consisted all senior secondary one students across schools Uyo metropolis, a sample size hundred (100) were purposively selected from population. instruments for data collection was Quadratic Performance Test. validated instrument by experts yielded reliability coefficient 0.81, method Kuder-Richardson-21 formula. Quasi-experimental design used Two intact classes assigned to experimental group control group. taught concept using Manipulative Instruction, while Concrete Instruction. Data obtained analyzed mean, percentages Analysis Covariance. results showed technology enhanced learning tool; Manipulatives performed significantly higher than those Manipulative. Gender exerted non-significant influence between intervention groups. Moreover, joint effect gender instructional manipulatives yield graph. It therefore recommended tools such as should be teach graphs schools.
